PD League Tri Level League Forming

Legal Team Deadline - September 10

The PD League is excited to announce two Tri Level Leagues for the fall of 2017. One will serve the  Sumter/Manning area and the other will serve the Florence/Darlington/Hartsville area. I have spoken to our state league coordinator and local league coordinators that have been doing Tri Level for a couple years to learn what has worked well and what has not worked well for them. This season will be a test season for us so please work with us this first year. Depending on participation we will adjust in coming years.

What is a Tri Level League?: A Tri Level League is made up of same sex doubles teams using three levels, one level per court for a team match. The emphasis of the Tri Level Leagues is FUN-SOCIAL-COMPETITION. In that order. There currently is no state championship for Tri Level. This league will be a little different from the Spring, Mixed, and Combo seasons in several respects.

Our Goal: To create a league that promotes the fun/social aspects of tennis allowing players/friends of different levels to participate on the same team.

Leagues Offered:
     - Sumter/Manning area - Matches to be played at Palmetto Tennis Center
     - Florence/Darlington/Hartsville area - Matches to be played at Florence Tennis Center
NOTE - Make sure you create your teams and players sign up in the correct league.

Levels of Play:
     - 2.5-3.0-3.5  Men - NTRP Range 2.0-3.5
     - 3.0-3.5-4.0  Men - NTRP Range 2.5-4.0

     - 2.5-3.0-3.5  Women - NTRP Range 2.0-3.5
     - 3.0-3.5-4.0  Women - NTRP Range 2.5-4.0

NOTE - Players can only play on one team for this first season. Since all levels will be playing on the same night we are limiting the number of teams you can play on for this first season to help us gauge interest.

Team Size and Makeup: To be a legal team you must have at least one pair of each of the three

SC Play Tennis License Plates Available

South Carolina finally has a license plate for tennis players and fans! The $30 fee to purchase the Play Tennis! license plate goes to the South Carolina Tennis Patrons Foundation, a charity organization providing grants to kids-at-risk programs, need-based grants to junior players, and academic scholarships. The Foundation also administers the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame, located in Belton SC.  The easiest way to obtain the plate is to do it online.

Go to www.scdmvonline.com and click on "Order License Plates Online" that appears just above the displayed license plate. On the next page, in the box on the right under "Vehicle Services", click on "Exchange a Plate for a New Plate Design". With your current registration card in front of you, fill out the required information. Note: the vehicle number requested is not your VIN number! The number required is the one that appears at the top right on your registration card. You will be asked what plate you are applying for. Choose the Play Tennis! plate that appears in the gallery of specialty plates. Fees that are owed will be shown. Pay with a credit card. That should do it! An alternative path is to find the plate in the DMV's gallery of specialty plates and click where it says "buy this plate".

The old-fashioned way to obtain the plate is to download the DMV form MV-95 from the DMV website, fill it out and send it in. The Play Tennis! plate is not yet listed on this form, but the fee for the plate is $30 in addition to any registration fees that may be due.The DMV will mail you the plate with a new registration and stickers. If you have any problems or questions, the DMV encourages you to call their help line at 803-896-5000.
